The Anticipation of Fall

As someone who is proudly from Newfoundland and Labrador, I can tell you there’s something special about this time of year. The colours along the coastline, the crisp ocean air — and yes, even the rain and wind — have a way of reminding you just how extraordinary this province is. The weather is part of the experience. It helps shape the rugged beauty of the landscape and underscores something I’ve always admired about the people who live here: resilience, adaptability and a deep appreciation for the place we call home. Fall is one of the seasons when I find myself most appreciative of a good raincoat. I own a Mernini raincoat myself, and it’s my go-to whenever I’m home or anywhere in the Maritimes. That’s one of the reasons I was delighted to learn more about founder Maria Halfyard and the remarkable business she has built. Her story is a wonderful example of the entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and determination that can be found across Atlantic Canada and is alive and well in Newfoundland and Labrador.

One of the greatest privileges of my role is getting to meet and learn from the fascinating people who make Atlantic Canada such a vibrant place to live, work and travel. Newfoundland and Labrador is filled with remarkable stories, inspiring entrepreneurs and unforgettable experiences. Maria’s is just one of many worth celebrating.

We’re also excited to continue growing our membership in the province. Last year, we opened a new store in the Avalon Mall in St. John’s, where we’re bringing our world-class travel expertise, member savings, rewards and everyday value closer to home.

I hope this issue inspires you to explore, connect and discover something new, whether in my fabulous home province or in worlds beyond!

Happy and safe travels,
